An Action Drenched Adolescent

Wow! What a summer! Once again I find myself traveling across the country with my family to seek out support that we may be in Ukraine by April. We had another trip to Pennsylvania where we spent a week in family camp, a new adventure that will be forever plastered on my memory as one of the greatest weeks of my life. And the month of August(and I think I should note is one of the hottest months of the year) we spent in the great state of Texas. From Houston to the border it was non stop thrill ride. Here, there, and seemingly everywhere, flowing from one church to another, falling in all the tourist traps along the way. Not to mention the hours upon hours of driving (well for me, riding), going three hundred miles in one direction, with absolutely no change in scenery.
So much is going on, on the outside, as well as in my mind and heart, I feel so overwhelmed, like a puppy walking around in the rain looking for a dry, peaceful, quit place; never escaping the storm of activity. Soaked through with stress and worry. Never prepared enough for the next days events.
So sad...yet so true. Is there any comfort, is there any relief, any shelter from the storm...
You bet!!!
Take a look at...
Psalm 91:1-6
Mark 4:39-41

I've spent some time in these two portions of Scripture. And you know what? I found that comfort and relief and shelter...in Christ. He is always there, right by my side. He's steady, strong, and my safe place. What is He for you?
Your Saviour,
Your Lord,
Your Knight in Shining Armour
Your Just Judge
Your Merciful Father
Your Very Present Help

I'm sure you could name a few more...

Traveling Teen Catastrophe

Well I'm back. Been traveling up and down the country. We spent three weeks in Pennsylvania. I think I shall have to add it to my list of favorite states(Amish, shoo fly pie, battle grounds, funny talkin' Yankees....jk) Any way....
I have found that with new surroundings(and new people) often comes new challenges(I actually met people who didn't know what "y'all" meant!! Where have they been??) But on a more serious note...how to keep your cool when you have been sitting in a van for 7-13 hours...and you have Larry, Moe, and Curly in the back seat and they wont hush up.

Your ever slightly carsick, you need to use the restroom, your iPod's battery is dead, and there is no interesting scenery for the next 50 miles(not to mention those horrible tunnels, I'm claustrophobic). I find myself in this position a little to often.
So what do I do when the stress monster is trying to overcome me...I run to the WORD!!!  Yep, the precious King James 1611 Holy Bible!!!! I love the Psalms!!! Because the poor Psalmist had the same problems that we face each and every day!! I've always been able to find a Psalm that expresses the burdens of my heart, and uplifts my spirit. Have you ever felt that all the world is coming at you, read Psalm 27! Feel nasty and dirty inside from your sin and you don't know how to convey your Godly sorrow?(Godly sorrow worketh repentance, 2 Corinthians 7:10), pray Psalm 51. God said He would supply all your need. "I need encouragement!" you say. Do a study on the love of God, or joy, or salvation. It's all there!!! One of the most common sins among church members is a lack of appreciation(and a love) for God's Word. If you find yourself with this kind of attitude, I would suggest reading "The Bible Makes Us Baptist" other wise known as "In Editha's Day" by Mary E. Bamford. And also read "The Little Baptist" by J. M. Martin. In these books you will find the accounts of two girls in search of truth, wisdom, and even protection from persecutors. Each finding daily comfort in the Scriptures.
So next time you feel as though your going to ring someones neck, or when everything falls apart right before your eyes; run to the Word, IMMERSE yourself in its truths, and find rest and strength.

Problem Prone Princess

Never...I
repeat...Never...Be to confident in
yourself...Because if you do...you'll
find yourself in heap big trouble...or with a batch of nasty
cookies...I don't know about you...but
me...I'm very problem prone. It's like I am a magnet to trouble. Whether its
trying to curl my hair and finding that it just "doesn't work" or that the glass
happened to be in my hand before it dropped to the floor and shattered into a
million pieces. But I find comfort in Job 14:1 "Man that is born of a woman
is a few days, and full of trouble."It's nice to know that though
I am probably going to do something real dumb before the day is over, Jesus
understands! He loves me! (Whether I make it up the stairs without falling or
not) xD He knew before the beginning of time that we as humans would make
mistakes, and yet He in His infinite Holiness still left Heaven, came to earth,
and died for His Problem Prone Princess!!!Oh, and remember, even if you
are like me, and battle the troubles, trials, and blond moments of life; God can
still use you. And He said in His Word that He will help us if we call(Ask,
Seek, Knock); that includes the times when we act foolish. If we truly will let
Him (and it might hurt a little), He will mold us into a wise son (or Princess)
for His honor and glory!Jesus loves
you...And He
is ready to forgive our dumb mistakes...
